July

  • Freedom Over Texas Festival | July 4. 2016

Eleanor Tinsley Park at Buffalo Bayou

Houston’s official 4th of July celebration features an explosion of amazing live entertainment, delicious food, and the city’s world-renowned fireworks display. The event is free.

AUGUST

  • Theater District Day | August 2016 (TBA)

 Alley Theatre, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Wortham Theater Center and Jones Hall – Downtown Houston

Nine world-famous performing arts groups go on stage in four district venues to bring dance and music to the public for free.  Enjoy backstage tours, view sets and costume displays, and take sneak peeks on upcoming seasons every summer.

SEPTEMBER

  • Fiestas Patrias | September 18, 2016

Trader’s Village

Celebrate Mexican-American culture complete with dance, music, and delicious traditional cuisine in one of the biggest community-sponsored parades in the Southwest. The event is open to the public.

OCTOBER

  • A.F. Wings Over Houston Airshow | Oct. 22 – 23, 2016

Ellington Field

The Navy’s legendary Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds showcase their stunning skills in daring aerial demonstrations and maneuvers. On the ground, WW II warbirds, from the Texas Legends Flying Museum and the WW II Airpower Demo commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

NOVEMBER

  • American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration | November 11, 2016

Venue to be announced

This festive tribute to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces includes the annual AT&T Veteran Job & Resource Fair, Family Health Fair, and American Heroes Parade.  The event is  free.

  • Thanksgiving Day Parade | November 24, 2017

Impressive floats and marching bands, flying balloons, and live entertainment mark this 66-year-old Houston tradition.

DECEMBER

  • The Mayor’s Official Holiday Celebration | TBD

Downtown Houston

Houston’s heartwarming holiday tradition of great food, music, lights, and spectacular fireworks is open to all. Bring a toy for the Salvation Army’s charity drive and get a Santa hat in return.
